Let's talk love...
"We have come to the cross-roads
And I must either leave or come with you
I lingered over the choice
But in the darkness of my doubts
You lifted the lamp of love
And I saw in your face
The road that I should take."
The Mesh - Kwesi Brew.
This is a poem written in simple language. It illustrates how beautiful love is. The poet persona and his lover get to a difficult point in their relationship and he is confused as to the best decision to take, but his lover "lifted the lamp of love" and he sees in her face the road to take. This depicts that the power of love is able to make one see the light even in the thickest of darkness. Love is light when there is no other source of light. The title of the poem is "The Mesh" and it explains why love is the light that makes him see the right path. A mesh is a net with only tiny holes. In relation to this poem, it symbolizes being entangled or caught up in a difficult situation.
The poem particularly expresses how naturally given love gives a feeling of assurance and hope. The poet persona slowly moves from being confused and uncertain to being sure about the path he should take after his lover "lifted the lamp of love".
In other words, don't force it. When it comes naturally, it would be the light you need when you are lost in the shadow of darkness. ❤
Love is light ❤️
