Pace...
Have you ever watched sprint races on TV or at the stadium? You would notice that the winners were focused from start to finish. They never look back and their eyes are always focused on the finish line.
At some point in our lives, or at this point in your life, we undermine how much we've grown. This is because we unconsciously or consciously find ourselves comparing our growth with that of our friends. Funke Akindele Bello said in one of her tweets, "comparison is the thief of joy." Very true, because while you bother your mind about the things you're get to achieve because a friend achieved that feat before you, you feel sad. In this moment, your countenance is bad and all you can think of is about how far behind your life is.
Well, you might need to call yourself to order now. Life is a race with an undefined finish line; it is an unusual race with everyone on their individual lanes and no competition.
Worrying about something due to unnecessary comparison is the most unproductive thing you can do at this point in your life.
Never compare yourself and life journey to that of other people. Allow yourself grow. Everyone is in a process and comparing your growth to that of others would make you overlook/skip a part or parts of the process.
Some years back, my mum planted maize, so did our neighbors. They harvested theirs and ours were yet to mature. I would always go there in the afternoon to tear the cobs open to see if they had grains on them yet. After a few weeks, they became mature. Patience. Everything on earth passes through a process. You can't skip a part of the process and expect great results.
Our individual lives is a growth process. Impatience and comparison would only make you feel worried, sad and slow you down.
Don't be worried about where you are in the race. Be determined; focus and put effort into whatever you do. Have it in mind that consistency yields great result overtime. You might not be seeing results now, but trust me, you're making progress. Your pace isn't slow, you're just moving at your own pace.
Martin Luther King Jr. once said, "if you can't fly then run, if you can't run then walk, if you can't walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward." So as far as you are putting in work to meet your goals, believe that one day you would reach that point you're looking forward to and even surpass it.
Continue like this; be consistent and some day, you would realize how far you've gone.
Rome wasn't built in a day; give yourself the chance to grow. "No pressure" should be your watchword.
