Keep the hashtag going till our voices are heard, #EndSARSImmediately

In a civilized world, people are supposed to live without fear in their countries. They are supposed to go out in search of their daily bread with the pregnant hopes of bringing back something and getting home in one peace.

The country we live in, Nigeria, and the elected government has made life a living hell for us.

Just like in a forest where stronger animals kill and feast on the ones they can overpower, the Special Anti-Robbery Squad(SARS) officers have preyed on Nigerians without mercy. A body that is supposed to protect citizens is now a body of oppressors.

Everyday, there is a new story or the other about their inhuman activities on the streets.

The supposed leaders of tomorrow may not even live to see tomorrow if SARS is not scraped. So many Nigerian youth have been led to their early graves by these terrible men.

"There are good SARS officers", but when the bad overclouds the good, what good is it? Why do Nigerians have to go out dressed like beggars to avoid harassment from these criminals in uniforms.

How much longer would parents keep losing their children to avoidable deaths?

How many more dreams would be killed and buried by SARS?

The Nigerian Police Force needs a total reform and SARS, scraped permanently.

They say Nigeria is democratic, but we're deprived of our freedom of speech, our freedom of movement. Peaceful protests are being boycotted by the police due to orders from above because they do not want the youth to live up to their age. Old men oppressing young people whom they're supposed to groom to be meaningful people in future.

Harassing people who are out for peaceful protests is tantamount to madness. No sane government does this.

For weeks, the hashtag " EndSars" has been trending on Twitter, our leaders see them, they see them, but they choose to be quiet. They are silent to our cries and unbothered about the lives that are being wasted on a daily basis. We're scared because we do not know who is next. How can you put ex-convicts, criminals as protection over innocent and harmless civilians? This is the height of madness.

This goes out to show that the government is one that's clueless and useless.

A country whose laws are flouted and changed to suit the ruling class.

Literally everything in Nigeria is designed to work against the average Nigerian, worsening it is the police brutality.

Nigerians are being killed and extorted by criminals who were given guns and uniforms and the old men in power say nothing about it.

For days, peaceful protests have been held in various parts of the country and the Nigerian Police as usual has harassed them countless times.

Packing off the protesters' sleeping tent, turning off street lights to harass them, shooting guns and teargas at harmless citizens who came out on a peaceful protest says a lot about how democratic the system is. So much to show that we live in an advanced forest and have no rights to protest against ill treatment. We are not even asking for the price of things in the market which are now triple the price to be returned to normal, we only ask that they let us go about our normal lives without the fear of being killed.

The labours of our heroes past, sadly, have gone in vain.

The only power we possess as citizens is our voice; online and on the streets. We must be heard and seen because we matter. Our lives matter. We're not chickens and do not deserve to be killed like chickens.

The media houses have had their mouths taped about the protests and police brutality until Nigerians on Twitter pressured them into broadcasting it for all to see.

These efforts may seem very little, but surely wouldn't go to waste.

Big ups to everyone who is out on the streets protesting and seeing to it that our voices are heard and our demands are met.

Falz, Runtown, Tacha, Mr Macaroni, Savvy Rinu, amongst many other brave, concerned and affected citizens, thank you.

You are the real heroes and our generation would never forget this labour of love.

To everyone who is not able to be at the venues of the protest, please keep trending the hashtag #EndSarsImmediately.

Use your online presence and let your voices be heard.

Hopefully, we would effect a change after exerting pressure on the government to act.

Be safe.
