Zee's diary: Sugar and spice

It was festive season and we had our end of year party at the office. It was a dinner party and we were asked to come along with our date if we had any. An opportunity to show off my sweet man. We had already spent two years together, I met him when I was 21 and after six months, it felt like we were going to spend forever together.

He was a business man, so I called him to ask if he was going to be available on the said date. "Anything for my queen", he said. I smiled, feeling so lucky for having such a blessing in my life. It was two weeks to the party and he suggested that we both went to shop for outfits for it. We picked the weekend to go together to a boutique to get the clothes, but on the morning of that Saturday, he called that he would be travelling to France for a business meeting. Not long after the call, I got a credit alert of one hundred thousand naira and a text saying "I'm sorry for disappointing you today, babe. Use the money to get the best outfits for this occasion. I'd get something nice for myself too." I went to the boutique alone and got myself a wine coloured velvet gown that was just at my ankle. It had a see through top with stones adorning it. It defined class.

On the night of the dinner, he came to pick me up from my house. He was dressed in a blue native with an artistic design at the neck. He looked like a freshly baked snack with his neatly cut hair. We got into his car and off we went to the event center. It was a big, classy hotel and presidents lodged there whenever they visited the city. We stepped into the event hall with our arms locked in each other. As we walked in, heads turned and people stared in amazement. I got the exact reaction I wanted. My man and I danced when it was the time and we somewhat stole the spotlight. It was indeed a good night for us as we won the 'best couple of the night' award.

It wasn't just a work party for me, it was a time away with the one I loved. We spent the whole time together talking to each other, laughing at our jokes, dancing to music, sometimes just staring at each other's face. In that moment, all I had in mind was how much I loved and wanted him forever, I don't know if he felt the same way though. I used to care, but not anymore. I don't even know where he is right now. *chuckles*
