What do we say to rejection? Get thee behind me!

When we were kids, we would inflate balloons with air, especially during festive seasons. We would happily pick balloons up and blow air into them, with the hopes of getting a big size. However, not every balloon has the capacity to produce a big size. So in the process of trying to get it to become a giant size, boom! It bursts. There's a feeling of disappointment, even amidst the chuckles that come from being startled by the instant and screeching sound that visits everyone's ears- especially when you don't have so many baloons.

Rejection is such a normal occurence, yet not so many people have been able to come to terms with this. Even as I write this, I still feel very bad whenever I get a rejection email.

Everyone alive seeks to break through in whatever they do, but while we struggle to do this, we also have to remember that life is learning on the job. Not a single person has ever lived life before and is reliving it again.

The people we admire today and aspire to be like also had a fair share of rejection before they got to where they are now.

One time, DJ Cuppy tweeted about achieving something and also added that she was met with a lot of rejection before she achieved what she was celebrating. That is to show you that every human on Earth has had and would have a fair share of rejection.

These rejections are one of the factors that help us become better with whatever we do.

People who have won in life- through the challenges and rejection- have confirmed that it is only those who don't let losses define them, that win. There's a popular saying that goes, "winners are not quitters, and quitters are not winners"

When we're faced with rejection of any form, we should consider it a sign to do more to become better. The better you become, the higher your chances of getting accepted.

Effects of rejection on a person's wellbeing

No matter how much we try to encourage ourselves when we get rejected, it still makes us feel down.

Imagine having high hopes about raising funds for your business and it just doesn't work out. It would hurt. However, things wouldn't work out if you stop putting in work.

Rejection should never define who you are. Instead, they should serve as encouragement for you to do better. It is hard to move on, but what is the point of crying over spilt milk?

Rejection does this thing to us, where we get discouraged about any and every thing. It makes us anxious about what the future holds for us. It makes us question our capabilities. It leaves us wondering where we went wrong. For some, it leaves a feeling of hopelessness.

What do you do when you are faced with rejection?

No one ever wishes to be rejected. However, whenever you are faced with rejection, what do you do? How do you move on from it?

As humans, we must learn to deal with rejection if we really desire to win.

Anyone who fails to move on from rejection is set to fail. You cannot cut a tree down by striking it once and throwing away your cutlass. You can only cut it down by consistently striking it at a particular spot. Even Gold doesn't become beautiful until it passes through fire and is struck with a hammer on the anvil.

A great way to move on from rejection is drawing inspiration from people who have done it and succeeded. You would hear tales of sleepless nights and relentless efforts, which have made them become what they are today and worthy of admiration.

Never let rejection define you. When you're faced with rejection, counter it by putting in triple effort.

If you're a fashion designer who is looking forward to styling models for a popular modelling agency, but fail to get the job, you can up your game by learning more. Learn more. Expand your horizons. Put your work out there for people to see. The next time you're applying for that job, you're a lot more better than you were when you made the previous application.

This is a sign for you to improve your skills and become better at that thing you know you're a genius in. Learn more. Practice more. Showcase yourself to the world. Be consistent (an advice I'm taking for myself)

In other words, never give up!

Dear reader, come to terms with the fact that rejection is normal. You are not cursed. It is just something that happens to people who would become winners if they never relent. Keep sending in those applications. Keep sending in those emails. Very soon, you would get a "Yes" after so many No's.
